DESCRIPTION
The Stakkur poncho was designed by my little sister, Katrín Ásta Gunnarsdóttir – always called Kata. While we are quite different in many ways, we share a deep-rooted love for knitting, which was sparked in our grandmother Katrín’s kitchen. Kata carries our grandmother's name, and I like to believe she also embodies some of her quiet strength and creativity. For a long time, Kata claimed she only followed patterns from other designers. However, the Stakkur poncho proves otherwise. This elegant and versatile piece is entirely her creation—a design that combines simplicity and beauty in a way that only Kata could achieve.
The Stakkur poncho is worked from the top down in the round and features a delicate yarn-over pattern that runs evenly down the center front and back, with subtle increases on either side. The Stakkur poncho can be worn in two distinct ways: with the open pattern facing the front, or rotated so the pattern runs down the arms – offering two different looks in one garment.
The edges are finished with a soft, clean touch using a tubular cast-on and cast-off, as shown in the photo. However, if you prefer, a simpler edging can also be used.

CARE
Wool is naturally stain and odour resistant and requires less washing than many fibres.
Airing wool garments outside in damp weather can often refresh them and remove odours.
However, when it is time to wash wool garments, here is how we recommend you do it.
DETERGENT / SOAP
Use mild or neutral detergents with a relatively neutral pH level, preferably those marked wool.
Avoid heavy-duty detergents and those containing enzymes or bleaches.
WASHING INSTRUCTIONS
By hand: Ensure the water temperature is steady, lukewarm or around 28°C/82°F.
Add a small amount of gentle detergent, submerge your wool garment, and soak it until completely saturated.
Rinse two to three times in clean water and ensure the same temperature. If using no-rinse detergent,
skip the rinsing steps. Press the water out of the garment, then roll the garment between clean, dry towels with light pressure. Alternatively, place the garment in a washing bag and gently spin it in the washing machine.
By machine: Use a washing machine with a wool setting and a gentle cycle.
DRYING INSTRUCTIONS
Lay the garment flat on a clean towel and reshape it as needed.
Leave to air dry away from direct sunlight or heat sources.
