The story behind AGD 02 BALACLAVA

My grandmother had a balaclava almost just like AGD 02 BALACLAVA which she had made in the seventies. You could fold the bottom of it to make it look like an ordinary hat, or you could pull it over your face and look through the opening. I always thought this was a brilliant hat. I asked the designer Anne Grete Duvald to design a balaclava like my grandmothers for einrúm. Anne Grete has worked with the duality of the concept and came up with this modern-looking, warm hat which beautifully frames the face when worn as a balaclava.

METHOD

The balaclava is worked in the round, from the bottom up with the face opening in the middle of the piece. The middle part of the hat is worked in two layers, using two circular needles. 

MEASUREMENTS: S (M) L

Head circumference, guide: 55 (56) 57 cm
Length: 30 (32) 34 cm

NEEDLES:

Two 3.5 mm (US 4) circular needles (40 cm)
